Christians Win, Satan Loses!

Christians Win, Satan Loses!“Be sober, be vigilant; because your adversary the devil walks about like a roaring lion, seeking whom he may devour. Resist him, steadfast in the faith, knowing that the same sufferings are experienced by your brotherhood in the world.” 1 Peter 5:8-9, NKJV

Satan is very active in this world and also tries very hard to be active in our personal lives as well. We need to remember that satan is powerful but not all-powerful. He has been, is now, and will always be subject to the power of Christ.

However, 1 Peter 5:8–9 places Satan’s activities in the proper context. Peter urges us to watch our surroundings and be alert to possible temptations.

But as we do, we can be encouraged that Jesus Christ has already defeated Satan, and therefore the evil one can have no long–term victories in our lives.

Peter goes on to encourage us that we need to resist Satan, which simply means we must “stand up against” him with our spiritual feet solidly planted on God’s Word. The Devil is a liar and a deceiver, and the surest way to deflect his temptations is with the infallible, revealed truth of Scripture.

Be encouraged today in knowing that Christ has already defeated satan. Like any enemy he will continue to fight until he is finally cast into the bottomless pit for all eternity. I hope I can watch it happen.
