Pay Back Is Never A Good Choice

Just Let It Go

“Beloved, do not avenge yourselves, but rather give place to wrath; for it is written, “Vengeance is Mine, I will repay,” says the Lord’, Romans 12:19, NKJV

Is there someone you would like to get even with or someone you would like to “repay” for something they did to you? That’s generally how the world reacts to things like that. That’s always the temptation we feel when we are wronged.

The Bible reminds the Christian that to “repay” or to “get even” is not ours to do. That is to be left up to God. To be specifically, the Bible tells us that vengeance belongs to the Lord. So, don’t take that away from the Lord by doing your own work of vengeance. Your vengeance will pale in comparison to the vengeance of the Lord for His children.

Another verse I would remind us of today would be in the same chapter of Paul’s Letter to the Romans. “Do not be overcome with evil, but overcome evil with good”. Romans 12:21, NKJV. When you “get even” or “repay” you become no better than them who hurt you. When you attempt to “get even” or “repay”, you are in the process of being overcome with evil. Don’t let that happen.

Vengeance, or to “get even” or to “pay back” is never a good companion to travel with in your life. Vengeance will always walk hand and hand with bitterness. Most people who can’t let go of hurt feelings usually end up being very bitter. Sometimes, we just need to “let go” of a bad experience in our life and move forward.

Be encouraged today in knowing that God will take of all the hurt feelings in your life. Let Him handle those things, let them go and move onward and upward with your life.
