Don’t Let Satan Steal Your Joy

“Restore to me the joy of Your salvation”, Psalm 51:12, NKJV

I have heard it said many times over the years, “I have lost the joy of my salvation”. Usually this is said during times of trouble and/or stress in one’s life. Have you ever felt that you have lost the joy of your salvation?

It happens and it happens quite often. In our scripture for the day, David, God’s anointed King of Israel, admits that he had lost the joy of the Lord’s salvation. He was asking God to restore to Him the joy of the Lord’s salvation.

There are some valid reasons why we temporally lose the joy of our salvation. I’ve mentioned the fact that trials or troubles in our life can rob us of the joy of our salvation. It is also true that failures in our life can rob us of the joy we have in our salvation.

Guilt, temptations, and stress are other reasons that can rob us of the joy that we can and should have in our salvation.

What does it mean to “have joy in our salvation” anyway? It means that we find happiness, peace, fulfillment, and joy in being saved and in being a Christian.

Those things I’ve mentioned can certainly rob us of those satisfying experiences that can come from our salvation. Jesus said that satan came “to kill and destroy”. Satan cannot take our salvation from us but he can surely kill and destroy our happiness, peace, fulfillment, and joy that we might find in our salvation experience with the Lord.

Be encouraged today in knowing that you can once again experience the full joy that God wants you to have concerning your salvation found only in Christ Jesus.

If you have lost the joy of being saved, you too, can ask God today to restore the joy of His salvation to you. Reject the negativity of satan and focus on the great and mighty things done for you through your personal salvation.
