Mercy Demands Mercy

“Therefore be merciful, just as your Father also is merciful.” Luke 6:36, NKJV

One definition of mercy is this; “kind or forgiving treatment of someone who could be treated harshly”.

As a sinner what did we deserve from God? We deserved to be treated harshly but by the mercy of God we were not.

Our scripture for the day tells us that mercy demands mercy. Since God was so merciful to us, and He was, we must also by merciful to those who have wronged us.

It is not our responsibility to make anyone pay for their wronging of us. God said that vengeance was His and we should leave that to Him. Not easy to do but it is God’s plan.

Our responsibility is to extend mercy and let God deal with the details.

Be encouraged today in knowing that God has been extremely merciful to all of us and He continues that practice each day. Let us be grateful for that kind of love and mercy.

With His help, it is now our responsibility to extend that mercy to others.
