A Bad Day With A “Good” Result
“…He said, “It is finished!” And bowing His head, He gave up His spirit.” John 19:30, NKJV.
It was a bad day for Jesus, humanly speaking, and a “Good” day for mankind. So we refer to it as “Good Friday”. It is the Friday before Resurrection Sunday; the day we refer to as Easter.
We cannot even begin to imagine how bad the day was for Jesus. The scourging by the Roman army along with the suffering on the cross; those words do no justice for the pain and humiliation He went through for you and me.
The Bible says, “It was a curse to die on a cross”. It was a bad day for the man known as Jesus of Nazareth.
As it turned out, it was a good day for mankind. For it was on that cross that Christ paid the price for our salvation, His death.
Through His death, we can find forgiveness from our sins and eternal life in heaven if we will only ask Him.
Our scripture said, “It is finished”. There was nothing else for Jesus to do to secure salvation for anyone and everyone. His death paid it all and He paved the way for us to go to heaven for all eternity.
Take some time today to thank God for His love for us and for His Son, Jesus, for dying for our sins that we might have eternal life.
The only thing that makes this Friday “Good Friday” is what Jesus Christ did on a cross some 2,000 years ago for all of us.
