We Cannot Even Imagine
“But as it is written: “Eye has not seen, nor ear heard, nor have entered into the heart of man the things which God has prepared for those who love Him.” 1 Corinthians 2:9, NKJV
Using our most vivid imagination, we could not picture all that God has prepared for His children.
Our scripture for today emphasizes that truth for us. We might imagine what heaven will be like. We like to use phrases like; streets of gold and pearly gates to describe heaven.
Certainly, according to the Book of the Revelation, there will be streets of gold and there will be gates of pearl in the heavenly city.
However, beyond those mental pictures, we cannot even begin to imagine what God has prepared for us in the city in which we will live eternally.
We will surely enjoy all those things that will be there but I also think we will enjoy the things that will not be there.
Crying will not be there, sickness will not be there, death will not be there, temptation will not be there, nor will the devil be there. Sadness will not be there, disharmony will not be there, conflict will not be there and separation from our loved ones will not be there.
Oh, the list could go on and on. Suffice it to say that we will be surprised and overjoyed with every step that we take in heaven. Every step will be a new adventure in heaven. With every step we will see a new beauty.
With every step we will meet one of the great saints we have read about in the Bible. With every step we will worship the King of Kings on His throne.
As John the Apostle wrote near the end of the book of The Revelation; “Come quickly, Lord Jesus”.
