Growing Up In Christ
“But grow in the grace and knowledge of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. To Him be the glory both now and forever. Amen.” 2 Peter 3:18, NKJV
Spiritual growth is a process that does not happen overnight.
Our scripture for today encourages us with the words; “but grow”. Spiritual growth is both a choice and a journey.
It is a choice that we make to grow in our spiritual qualities and a journey that begins at the moment of our salvation and ends when our life on this earth ends.
In 2 Peter 3:18, we find that we are to grow in grace and knowledge of the Lord Jesus.
Grace – Grace is an unmerited favor that is a two-way street. God gives grace to us and we must give grace to others and we must grow in that grace to complete our spiritual journey.
Knowledge – Knowledge of the Lord Jesus Christ is to know both His words and His ways and then applying them to our life in a positive way. We are also to grow in this knowledge in order to help complete our spiritual journey.
Every day is an opportunity for us to grow in the grace and the knowledge of Jesus Christ. We have to choose to do that and then be determined to follow that choice all the way through our life.
There are no short cuts and there are no easy steps. Perseverance is the key.
