Live Up To Your Potential

“I press toward the mark for the prize of the high calling of God in Christ Jesus.” Philippians 3:14, NKJV

I’ve heard coaches say of an athlete, “He has a lot of potential”.

I’ve also heard coaches say of an athlete, “He’s just not playing up to his potential”.

In our scripture for today, Paul says that he has not reached his potential as a Christian but he is pressing on trying to reach the mark.

He calls his Christianity a “high calling”.

In fact, it is the highest calling in this world; higher than any political office you might wish to hold and higher than any accomplishment you might want to reach.

There will be nothing higher that you ever do in this life than be the Christian that God has called you to be.

It is sad when we see someone that does not reach their potential in any position that they might hold or in any opportunity that may have been given to them.

Be encouraged today in knowing that God has high plans for you. His plans for you are not average or mediocre but “high”.

To fulfill our potential, we like Paul, will need to press on and not settle for anything less than the “high calling” that God has for our lives.
