God’s Great Mercy

God’s Great Mercy

“…I trust in the mercy of God forever and ever.” Psalm 52:8, NKJV

Mercy is defined as, “kind or forgiving treatment of someone who could be treated harshly”.

And so, the mercy of God is defined for us. It is the kind and forgiving treatment of God upon us, who could be treated harshly.

Though we do not deserve such kind and forgiving treatment from God, we receive it fully and gracefully from Him.

It is a great mercy. There is nothing little in God; His mercy is like Himself—it is infinite. You cannot measure it. His mercy is so great that it forgives great sins to great sinners, after great lengths of time.

Then God’s great mercy gives great privileges, and raises us up to great enjoyments in the great heaven of a great God.

It is an abounding mercy. Millions have received it, yet it is far from being exhausted; it is as fresh, as full, and as free as ever.

It is an undeserved mercy, as indeed all true mercy must be. We, the sinner, cannot do anything to deserve such forgiveness and such blessing from such a great and mighty God.

God’s mercy is a mercy we should never take for granted, that we should never abuse, and that we should always be thankful for.

May we all pray for abundant mercy for our nation in the days ahead.
