These Things I Know
I Know We Are In God’s Will
“A man’s heart plans his way, But the Lord directs his steps.” Proverbs 16:9, NKJV
Life is full of plans and dreams. We plan out our day. It may be a day of work with shopping included and stopping by a friend or family’s house. We just make plans for the day and we pretty much follow those plans. We may plan the week in the very same way. There are even monthly and yearly planners that will allow us to plan special days throughout the month and even the year.
By doing that, we can organize our life and by doing so we can better fulfil our obligations and those other events that we want to include in our daily lives.
Our scripture this morning reminds us that although we make those all-important plans for our life, when all is said and done, God is going to direct our steps. He has a will for our life and will direct our steps to be sure we fulfil His will for our life. That means that sometimes our plans are not the plans He has for us.
There is something comforting about that and yet challenging at the same time. It’s comforting to know that God is watching our life that closely and that He is carefully directing our steps. It’s challenging in that we may not always agree with the changes to our pre-planned day or even major changes to our life.
It is important for us to remember that God can see into the next hour of our life or the next day or year and we cannot see into the future. The change He makes to our plans may be a change that will protect us or one of our loved ones from something that He deems very harmful that He sees coming into our or their future.
Be encouraged today, in knowing that God sees your future, and believe it or not, the changes He makes to you plans will always be for your good because He loves you that much.
