Confession Is Good For The Soul!
“If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.” 1 John 1:9, NKJV
Have you ever heard the old cliché; “Confession is good for the soul?” Confession has a way of taking away our guilt for doing something wrong. For Christians, the word guilt should really be referred to as “conviction”. Conviction of our sin is the work done by the Holy Spirit.
Our scripture for today is biblical truth that confession is good for the soul. 1 John 1:9 actually encourages us to confess our sins to God, each and every one of them, no matter how small or how big the sin might be.
Even as Christians, we can have unconfessed sins. Those are sins that we have not admitted to God nor ask forgiveness for. Just because we are Christians; we do not automatically receive forgiveness for sins when we commit them. We, too, must ask for that forgiveness.
Those unconfessed sins damage our fellowship with God the father. They block the avenue to God by which we pray and by which He sends His blessings to us. God does not bless sin. It seems like only us humans want to do that, especially even more so in this current day and time.
Be encouraged today in knowing that in spite of every kind of sin, God still loves us. However, know today that it is important to our spiritual health to confess ever manner of sin in our life and seek His forgiveness.
Our scripture tells us that when we do that He will forgive us immediately and cleanse us from all kinds of unrighteousness. Thank you Lord!
