Beware!

Beware!

“And the Lord said, “Simon, Simon! Indeed, Satan has asked for you, that he may sift you as wheat.” Luke 22:31, NKJV

The devil has a hit list; and guess who’s on it? All of us!

The term “hit list” refers to victims on a list of contract killings.

Our scripture for today tells us that Jesus warned Peter that satan had ask for him, that he could sift him like wheat.

The sifting as wheat is a reference to satan’s desire to toss Peter to and from, back and forth as the wheat would go through the sieve. In general; satan wanted to take hold of Peter and torment him and try him much like he did Job in the Old Testament.

This verse should get our attention on many levels. We are no better than Peter and Peter is no better than us when it comes to satan’s desire to tormenting one of God’s children. He longs to get his hands on anyone or anything that belongs to God.

The goal of the sifting may not be to take our life but to just oppress us and use us, even the more so if we happen to be in a place of authority or a position of service in God’s church.

God’s church is also a main target of satan. Do not be fooled into thinking that any church, or church member, is above or beyond the reach and influence of satan.

Satan, no doubt, has asked for us that he might do the same to us. Pray that the God of heaven will never turn you over to satan to be sifted as wheat.

Be encouraged today in knowing that in the very next verse in Luke 22:31, Jesus told Peter; “But I have prayed for you that your faith not fail”.

Jesus is praying for you. If you are interested in reading Jesus’ prayer for you; it can be found in John 17:6-26
