Run To Jesus

“The name of the LORD is a strong tower; the righteous run to it and are safe.” Proverbs 18:10, NKJV

Do you know what your name means? Usually names have a meaning behind them. That principle was extremely true during biblical times. Names given to the people that we read about in the bible had specific meanings.

The name Joshua meant “Jehovah is salvation”.

The name Abraham meant “the exalted father”.

The name Moses meant “A son drawn out”.

The name Job meant “One that weeps”.

Our scripture in Proverbs this morning says the name of the Lord is a strong tower. What was Solomon, the writer of proverbs telling us?”

Solomon was looking beyond walls made of stone. He was celebrating the Lord as the fortress in whom he places ultimate trust. A walled city was the fortress of ancient times within which a person felt secure.

The illustration of God as a fortress, stronghold, or place of refuge is found many times in the Old Testament.

It would encourage us today to “run to God”, our great fortress where we find salvation of our souls and help in the time of our trouble. Find help inside your fortress today.

When you speak His name, think of several things that you have learned that His name means.

Be encouraged today, in knowing that God is a strong fortress; a place for you find safety in time of trouble.

With Blessings,
