God Saw and Heard That
“People who conceal their sins will not prosper, but if they confess and turn from them, they will receive mercy.” Proverbs 28:13, NLT
I remember as a child, whenever I did something wrong, I tried to hide it from my parents. I think that’s probably natural for most children. In my case, my parents always found out what I had done. The punishment was probably worse than if I had just admitted to them what I had done and sought their forgiveness.
I remember one time my mother saying to me, “God is writing everything you do down in a book.” I never believed her till I read Revelation 20:12.
I have discovered as a Christian, the same principle seems to apply to me when I think God didn’t see me do something wrong or hear me when I said something wrong. Obliviously, He sees everything we do and He hears everything we say and we are not hiding anything from Him.
In Proverbs 28:13, we are told that we will never prosper when we try to conceal our sins. God will not bless us while we are trying to hide sins from Him. When we do not confess our sins to God, it is like we think He won’t know about them if we don’t tell Him. It is foolish for us to think that we can sneak anything past God.
On the positive side of this lesson is the promise that if we will just confess our sins to Him, He will extend mercy to us. I don’t know about you but I need all the mercy I can get.
