Give This Gift To Yourself
“And have no fellowship with the unfruitful works of darkness”, Ephesians 5:11, NKJV
We are warned to avoid someone that might have a contagious disease. We follow that warning because we do not want to catch the disease that they have. Hospitals have rooms and areas that can be used as a quarantine area in order to protect others from a contagious disease.
We could avoid some trouble in our life if we would take that same advice when it comes to who we fellowship with or spend time with in our life. It’s obvious that not everyone is good for us to spend time around.
As parents, we tell our kids this all the time; be careful who you spend your time with. There are those in this world that have a good influence on our children and then there are those who have a really bad influence on our children. Parents can tell the difference pretty quickly.
The same advice can apply to adults also. In fact, the scripture for today says exactly that; be careful who you spend your time with. However, the scripture is a bit stronger; “And have no fellowship with the unfruitful works of darkness”.
Many teenagers have been led in the wrong direction by someone that has a bad influence over them. As far as that goes, many adults are led in the wrong direction by someone that has a bad influence over them.
Give this gift to yourself; avoid those who have the works of darkness around them. They are not really that hard to pick out. If you can’t tell the difference, ask God because He already knows who they are.
